Just when I think you couldn't possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this…and totally redeem yourself! -Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels), "Dumb and Dumber"
I just saw that Facebook is adding new customizable privacy controls.
If this works the way the screen shot leads on, I'm going to be giving this feature 2 enthusiastic thumbs up. I have been concerned for a while about the amount, and type, of information that people are putting online about themselves; sometimes without regard for the future implications of that information.
My fiance, a middle school teacher, has always been acutely aware who can (and will) be looking at her MySpace/Facebook profiles (students, parents, administrators, potential employers, etc.) and has always been extremely judicious about what types of messages/photos that appear on her profile.
I think that this feature is a step in the right direction as far as making users more cognizant of who really has access to the information that is about to be posted, and it will allow people, that are otherwise restricted, to partake in the experience a bit more.
