Facebook adds ability to chat with friends...

What's next? A direct dial-up connection?  Oooh ooh, can I get a busy signal with that?  Seriously, going to a 'service' so that you can chat with your friends was done a LONG time ago.  I remember hanging out in chat rooms on multi-line BBSs as early as 1992, and then there was AOL with it's chat rooms and IM.  Fast forward 10-15 years and you have a LOT of IM providers to choose from, and you don't have to go to a web site to start them.

I just watched the demo video at TechCrunch and am less than impressed.

And browser integration?... what happens when your browser crashes?

One of the comments on the post mentions an 'Always On' connection to FB using Adobe's AIR framework, where instead of logging off of the site you would simply minimize to an icon in your task bar.  Seriously?  I mean, you can't un-plug for a minute?  Do we really need to be that connected?  Reminds me of the title of a post I saw this morning, Push To Classify Internet Addiction As a Mental Disorder... funny enough, it was at TechCrunch too.
